Some of you will know… many won’t… that I’ve picked my ‘office’ up (laptop) and moved to various locations on several occasions over the last six months.
My vision when I set up my business 5 years ago was to be more mobile – to become unleashed from the constraints of employment – to give me flexibility to help my ageing parents if they needed it – to travel as I used to do in my twenties – to have a day off here and there to attend important events, such as my daughter’s graduation day – or just to spend time walking the dog, because I can.
So, having sacked the boss, plunged into self-employment, sold my home and my car and downsized from a three bedroom house in Lancashire to a one bedroom cottage in Yorkshire, and from there to spend some periods of time in Spain, working virtually really does work! I’ve downsized big time, as you can imagine… but what more do I need than my health, partner, family, friends, laptop and a good internet connection!
As I move around more, all my clients are still with me and, to my knowledge to date, have not noticed any difference in the quality or quantity of service provided to them, be it from Yorkshire, or anywhere else in the world I may decide to travel to. And nor should they!
So it really is business as usual – with lovely views and a lot of sunshine thrown in!
